Why We Use Music at Bitone?
“Bitone” means Talents. We believe that all children need to have music as a part of their education to inspire in them the development of sensitivity, creativity, and discipline, while at the same time bringing joy into their everyday life experiences. Music contributes to children’s basic need for literacy and stimulates the developing of cognitive elements of their brains. It provides an opportunity for self-expression, divergent thinking, problem solving and also enhances the development of their self-esteem. Through singing, playing musical instruments, dancing, and poetry, the Bitone children interact cooperatively in a group setting.
Bitone aims to provide children with the physical, intellectual, and artistic foundation that will help them rebuild their lives, regain their sense of worth, and become self-reliant so that they may contribute positively to society. Through their performances these goodwill ambassadors share their stories, promote the Ugandan culture and raise awareness of the plight of children in their homeland. They are thriving proof of the transformative power of art.
